The European Commission has proposed a unified digital certificate for active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) imports, targeting faster customs clearance at EU borders.
Suppliers in India, China, and the United States would submit batch quality records through one portal linked to member-state customs systems.
Industry groups say inconsistent paperwork has caused costly border holds. A phased rollout over 18 months is expected if the proposal is adopted.
